NELA · Data & privacy
Know what stays with your movement.
This page describes the behavior implemented in the current web build. Your choices are explicit, and the controls live in your signed-in account.
What the web build collects
When you consent, NELA saves movement summaries such as activity, start and end time, duration, distance, pace, source, and optional elevation. An optional coarse city label can be saved for local context. After a completed session, you can optionally save non-medical mood and body-feeling choices plus a reason and note.
Precise routes and health metrics
Precise route points are saved only when you choose live route capture for a session. Time-only movement does not start a browser location watch. Heart-rate storage is off by default and can be turned on in Data & privacy; turning it off removes saved heart-rate fields and blocks future heart-rate writes.
Who can access it
Movement APIs return records only to the authenticated account that owns them. This web build has no movement-data admin viewer and no sharing flow. NELA does not sell or share personal movement data.
Audio and Apple Watch status
NELA Originals music and narrated stories are streamed from owner-supplied HTTPS media URLs when available. Your selected mode, pace, intention, and item are saved owner-scoped with the movement session; changing or stopping media does not pause or discard the workout. Motivation & Meaning can be readable original text without pretending it is audiobook audio. Device speech uses the device voice and is not uploaded. Apple Music is reserved for a future adapter and is not linked or playable in this web build. The native iPhone + Apple Watch companion app remains a separate release prerequisite.
Retention, export, and deletion
Movement summaries and optional city, mood/body check-in, or context data remain in your account until you delete them. There is no automatic expiry job in this web build. You can download a JSON export containing your movement, preferences, route, and dormant Watch preparation/sync rows. “Delete all NELA movement data” removes those movement-related rows and leaves your sign-in account in place; account deletion is not part of this implementation. The product reports deletion completion only after the server operation succeeds.
